Stretch Rx – Stretch Therapy in Toronto

What is Stretch Rx?

Stretch Rx is our specialized protocol for assisted stretching, also known as stretch therapy. In one-on-one sessions, a certified practitioner, such as a kinesiologist or PTA, expertly maneuvers your body through a series of movements while you relax. This loosens your muscles, which is key to helping you feel a deeper stretch and an improvement in your range of motion.

With Stretch Rx, individuals can benefit from:

  • Greater flexibility and a noticeable decrease in pain
  • Improved circulation for quicker recovery and less muscle soreness
  • Enhanced strength and better performance in physical activities
  • Reduced tension and stiffness in the back, hips, neck, and legs

What conditions can Stretch Rx help with? Clinician helping male patient

Many common aches and pains are directly linked to underlying muscle tightness and restricted mobility. By addressing these root issues, Stretch Rx can help provide relief. Our assisted stretching therapy is helpful for managing symptoms related to:

Postural strain: including back, neck, shoulder pain, caused by desk work.

Athletic injuries:  such as IT band syndrome, shin splints, and plantar fasciitis

Joint and nerve pain: relief from general joint stiffness, pinched nerves (sciatica), and facet joint dysfunction

Chronic conditions: including muscular imbalances, persistent chronic pain, and discomfort from disc herniation.

How does Stretch Rx work?

1. Your initial assessment

If you are a new patient, your first step begins with a 30-minute one-on-one    assessment with a registered physiotherapist or chiropractor. During this session we will discuss your health history, evaluate your current mobility, and understand your goals. This allows us to create a fully customized assisted stretching plan just for you.

Existing patients of our clinic can book their stretch sessions directly.

2. Your Stretch Rx session

During your appointment, you will remain fully clothed in comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. You simply relax on a treatment table while your certified stretch therapist gently guides your body through a series of targeted passive stretches. The goal is to achieve a deep, effective release of tension and lengthen muscles in a way that is difficult to do on your own.

3. Ongoing support

Your progress is a collaborative effort. Your primary physiotherapist or chiropractor will oversee your plan, adjusting as needed to help ensure you continue to see improvement.

To support you between visits, your stretch therapist will also provide personalized at-home stretches, complete with video guides and clear instructions, to help you maintain flexibility and feel great.

Stretch sessions may be covered by extended health benefits

Your Stretch Rx sessions are overseen by a physiotherapist or chiropractor, which means they’re eligible for coverage under most extended health insurance plans. We recommend contacting your benefits provider to confirm the details of your coverage.
